To install the Cobra XRS 9950, attach the suction cup mount to the windshield, ensuring it's secure. Connect the power cable to the cigarette lighter or power port, and plug the other end into the detector. Position the unit so it has a clear view of the road ahead.
First, check the power connection to ensure it is securely plugged into the power source and the detector. If the issue persists, try using a different power outlet or cable to rule out a faulty connection.
Visit the Cobra Electronics website and navigate to the support section for firmware updates. Download the latest version and follow the provided instructions to update your device via a computer connection.
Press the "Menu" button on the unit to enter the settings menu. Use the arrow keys to navigate to "Sensitivity" and select your preferred level: Highway, City, or Auto.
Ensure the detector is properly mounted and adjusted. Consider lowering the sensitivity setting or enabling the "City Mode" to reduce false alerts in urban areas.
Drive through an area with known radar signals, such as near a speed sign or traffic enforcement area. The detector should alert you to the presence of radar.
Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Avoid using harsh chemicals or water. Regularly check the mount and cables for wear and tear.
Enable the "Auto Off" feature in the settings menu to automatically turn off the detector after a period of inactivity, conserving power.
The detector uses different tones for various radar bands (X, K, Ka) and laser alerts. Refer to the user manual for a detailed explanation of each alert tone.
Access the settings menu by pressing "Menu" on the device. Navigate to "Voice Alerts" and toggle the setting to "Off" to disable voice notifications.
