To thread the Brother VX3240, raise the presser foot and turn the handwheel towards you to raise the needle. Place the spool of thread on the spool pin and draw the thread through the guide. Follow the threading path marked on the machine, ensuring the thread is securely in the tension discs. Finally, thread the needle from front to back.
Skipped stitches can be caused by using the wrong needle or a dull needle. Ensure the needle is properly inserted, and try using a new needle that is appropriate for the fabric you are sewing. Also, check that the machine is threaded correctly.
To adjust the tension, locate the tension dial on the machine. For tighter tension, increase the number on the dial, and for looser tension, decrease the number. Test on a scrap piece of fabric to ensure the tension is correct for your project.
Ensure that the feed dogs are engaged and not lowered. Check that the presser foot is down and that the fabric is positioned correctly under the foot. Also, verify that the stitch length is not set to zero.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the bobbin case and the feed dogs, oiling the machine as per the manual, and changing the needle regularly. Refer to the manual for detailed instructions on cleaning and oiling points.
Noise can result from a lack of lubrication, lint buildup, or a bent needle. Clean the machine, replace the needle, and oil the necessary parts. If the noise persists, consult a professional technician.
Jamming can occur due to tangled thread or incorrect bobbin installation. Re-thread the machine, making sure the upper thread and bobbin thread are correctly positioned. Clean any lint in the bobbin area.
To select a stitch, turn the stitch selection dial to the desired stitch pattern, indicated by the numbers and diagrams on the machine. Adjust the stitch length and width settings as needed for your project.
Ensure that you are using the correct needle type and size for your fabric. Check that the needle is inserted correctly and that the presser foot and needle plate are not damaged. Avoid pulling the fabric while sewing.
To change the presser foot, raise the presser foot lever and remove the current foot by pressing the release lever. Align the new foot with the presser foot holder and lower the presser foot lever until it snaps into place.
