To thread the Brother BM-2700, first raise the presser foot and turn the handwheel to raise the needle. Place the spool of thread on the spool pin, and guide the thread through the thread guide. Pull it down around the tension dial, then up and through the take-up lever. Finally, thread the needle from front to back.
If the Brother BM-2700 is skipping stitches, check if the needle is bent or dull and replace it if necessary. Ensure the needle is correctly inserted and that the machine is properly threaded. Also, verify that the fabric is suitable for the needle and thread being used.
To maintain the Brother BM-2700, regularly remove lint and dust from the bobbin area and feed dogs using a brush or vacuum attachment. Oil the machine according to the manual's instructions, and have it serviced by a professional annually.
If the fabric is not feeding, ensure the presser foot is lowered. Check that the feed dogs are engaged and not lowered for free-motion sewing. Additionally, verify the stitch length setting is not set to zero.
To adjust tension on the Brother BM-2700, test sew on a scrap of fabric. If the upper thread is visible on the underside, tighten the upper tension slightly. If the bobbin thread shows on top, loosen the upper tension. Adjust in small increments until balanced.
To change the presser foot, raise the presser foot lever and remove the current foot by pressing the lever at the back of the foot holder. Align the new foot with the holder and lower the presser foot lever until it snaps into place.
Unusual noises could be due to a bent needle, incorrect threading, or lint buildup. Check the needle and threading first, then clean the machine. If the noise persists, consult a professional as it may indicate a mechanical issue.
Uneven stitches or puckering may result from incorrect tension or using an inappropriate needle and thread for the fabric. Re-thread the machine, adjust the tension, and ensure you're using the correct needle and thread combination.
If the needle doesn't move, ensure the machine is properly plugged in and turned on. Check if the foot pedal is connected securely. If the problem continues, the machine may need servicing.
To wind a bobbin, place a spool of thread on the spool pin. Pull the thread through the thread guide and wind it around the bobbin winding tension disc. Insert the thread end through the bobbin hole, place the bobbin on the spindle, and push it to the right. Press the foot pedal to start winding.
