To thread the Brother PS200T, first raise the presser foot and turn the handwheel toward you to raise the needle. Place the spool of thread on the spool pin and secure it with the spool cap. Follow the threading path indicated on the machine, ensuring the thread passes through the tension discs, the take-up lever, and finally through the needle from front to back.
A needle may break due to incorrect insertion, using the wrong type or size for the fabric, or excessive tension. Check if the needle is correctly installed with the flat side facing the back, use a needle appropriate for your fabric, and adjust the tension settings.
Regular maintenance for the Brother PS200T includes cleaning lint from the bobbin area and feed dogs, oiling the machine as per the manual's instructions, and ensuring the machine is covered when not in use to prevent dust accumulation.
To adjust the tension, locate the tension dial on the machine. Increase the number to tighten the tension and decrease the number to loosen it. Test on a scrap fabric to find the optimal setting for your project.
Skipped stitches can be caused by a dull or bent needle, incorrect threading, or tension issues. Replace the needle, rethread the machine, and ensure the tension is properly set.
To sew a buttonhole, attach the buttonhole foot, select the buttonhole stitch on the machine, and place your fabric under the foot. Lower the buttonhole lever and start sewing, ensuring the machine completes the four-step buttonhole sequence.
A loud noise may indicate a need for cleaning or oiling, misalignment, or a bobbin issue. Clean the bobbin area, oil the machine if necessary, and ensure the bobbin is correctly installed.
If fabric jams, turn off the machine, gently remove the fabric, and check for tangled threads in the bobbin area. Rethread the machine and ensure the fabric is not too thick for the needle and settings used.
To change the presser foot, raise the presser foot lever and press the foot release lever on the back of the holder. Align the new foot with the holder and lower the presser foot lever until it snaps into place.
Uneven stitches may be due to tension imbalance, incorrect threading, or a dull needle. Verify the threading, adjust the tension, and replace the needle if necessary.
