To thread the Brother PE-450, start by raising the presser foot and turning the handwheel to raise the needle. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin, guide the thread through the thread guide, down the right channel, then up the left channel. Pass the thread through the take-up lever, down through the needle bar thread guide, and finally, thread the needle from front to back.
Ensure that the machine is threaded correctly and that the spool is placed properly. Check the tension settings and adjust if necessary. Make sure the needle is not damaged or bent and that it is appropriate for the fabric being used. Also, verify that the bobbin is wound evenly and inserted correctly.
Regular maintenance involves turning off the machine and unplugging it. Use a small brush to remove lint and dust from the bobbin case and surrounding areas. Oil the machine as per the user manual's instructions. Replace needles regularly and have the machine serviced by a professional annually for optimal performance.

Turn off the machine and raise the needle to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp screw with a screwdriver and remove the old needle. Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back, push it up as far as it will go, and tighten the screw securely.
