To reset the TPMS, turn the ignition to position 2 without starting the engine. Navigate to the iDrive menu, select 'Vehicle Info', then 'Vehicle Status', and choose 'Reset Tire Pressure'. Confirm the reset by following the prompts.
The recommended engine oil for a BMW 640i Convertible 2012 is BMW Longlife-01 synthetic oil with a viscosity grade of 5W-30.
To replace the key fob battery, press the small button on the key and remove the mechanical key. Open the key fob case using a flat tool and replace the battery with a new CR2450 coin cell battery. Reassemble the key fob.
Ensure the engine is cool. Open the hood and locate the coolant reservoir. Observe the fluid level against the markings on the side of the reservoir. If low, add a 50/50 mix of BMW-approved antifreeze and distilled water.
Ensure the vehicle is stationary and the trunk partition is properly positioned. With the ignition on, press and hold the convertible top switch until the top is fully opened or closed. Release the switch once the operation is complete.
The air filter should be inspected every 15,000 miles and replaced every 30,000 miles, or more frequently if driving in dusty conditions.
First, check the volume settings and ensure the mute function is not activated. Verify that the audio source is selected correctly. If the problem persists, check the fuses related to the audio system in the fuse box.
Fill the gas tank and add a fuel stabilizer. Inflate tires to the recommended pressure. Disconnect the battery or use a battery maintainer. Cover the vehicle to protect it from dust and UV rays.
Maintain regular service intervals, check tire pressure monthly, remove unnecessary weight, and use cruise control on highways. Avoid aggressive driving and excessive idling.
Press and hold the volume button on the iDrive controller for about 20 seconds until the system reboots. This will perform a soft reset and may resolve minor software glitches.
