To start the Ariens 936097 Tractor, ensure the parking brake is engaged and the transmission is in neutral. Turn the ignition key to the 'On' position and wait for the glow plug indicator to turn off if applicable. Then, turn the key to the 'Start' position until the engine starts. Release the key once the engine is running.
If the tractor won't start, first check the battery connections and charge. Ensure the fuel tank has fuel, and the fuel shut-off valve is open. Verify that the parking brake is engaged and the transmission is in neutral. Check the spark plug and replace it if necessary.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, and then every 25 hours or at the start of each season, whichever comes first. Use SAE 30 oil above 32°F (0°C) and SAE 5W-30 below 32°F (0°C).
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol as it may damage the engine components.
To replace the mower blades, first disconnect the spark plug wire. Lift the mower deck to its highest position, and use a wrench to remove the blade bolts. Install the new blades, ensuring they are properly aligned, and tighten the bolts securely. Reconnect the spark plug wire.
If the tractor cuts unevenly, check if the tire pressure is consistent on all tires. Ensure the mower deck is level from side to side and front to back. Inspect the blades for damage and sharpen or replace them if needed. Adjust the cutting height as necessary.
To clean the mower deck, first disconnect the spark plug wire. Use a garden hose with a spray nozzle to remove grass clippings and debris from the underside of the mower deck. Avoid using high-pressure washers as they can damage components. Reconnect the spark plug wire after cleaning.
For winter storage, clean the tractor and mower deck thoroughly. Change the oil and replace the air filter. Add a fuel stabilizer to the fuel tank and run the engine for a few minutes to circulate it through the system. Remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
If the tractor vibrates excessively, check for loose or damaged blades and tighten or replace them if necessary. Inspect the engine mounts and any loose hardware, and tighten as needed. Also, ensure the drive belts are not worn or damaged.
To adjust the cutting height, use the height adjustment lever located on the tractor. Move the lever to the desired position, ensuring that both sides are set to the same level for an even cut. Refer to the owner's manual for specific instructions if needed.
