To start the tractor, ensure the brake is engaged, the PTO switch is off, and the throttle is set to choke. Insert the key and turn it to the start position. Once the engine starts, release the key and adjust the throttle to the desired speed.
Regular maintenance includes checking the oil level, cleaning the air filter, inspecting the spark plug, checking tire pressure, and lubricating moving parts according to the user manual's schedule.
Ensure the PTO switch is in the correct position, check the drive belt for wear or damage, inspect the wiring connections to the PTO clutch, and verify the battery charge.
Check the battery for charge, ensure all connections are secure, confirm the fuel level, inspect the spark plug for fouling, and verify the safety switches are operational.
Warm up the engine, then turn it off and remove the ignition key. Place a pan under the oil drain valve, open the valve to drain the oil, and replace the oil filter. Close the valve and refill with the recommended oil type and quantity.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using gasoline with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent damage to the engine components.
Use the deck lift lever to adjust the cutting height. The lever is usually located on the right side of the operator's seat. Move it to the desired position to raise or lower the mower deck.
Check for debris buildup on the blades, inspect the blades for damage or imbalance, ensure the mower deck is properly mounted, and check the tire balance and pressure.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, remove the mower deck, and relieve tension on the belt by adjusting the tensioner pulley. Remove the old belt and install the new one following the belt routing diagram. Reinstall the deck and reconnect the spark plug wire.
Always wear appropriate safety gear, such as goggles and hearing protection. Ensure the area is clear of bystanders and obstacles. Operate the tractor on stable ground and never exceed the recommended speed.
