Ensure the tractor is on a level surface. Insert the ignition key and turn it to the "On" position. Engage the parking brake, set the throttle to the mid or fast position, and then turn the key to the "Start" position until the engine starts.
Perform regular maintenance every 25 hours of operation: check and change engine oil, inspect air filters, clean the mower deck, and check tire pressure. Annually, replace the spark plug and inspect the belts for wear.
Check the fuel level and ensure the fuel valve is open. Inspect the battery for charge and connection issues. Verify that the spark plug is in good condition and that the ignition switch is working properly.
Use SAE 30 oil for temperatures above 40°F. For temperatures below this, use SAE 5W-30 for better cold starting. Make sure to check and maintain the proper oil level regularly.
Safely lift the tractor and secure it. Remove the mower deck and use a wrench to unscrew the blade bolts. Replace the old blades with new ones, ensuring they are installed correctly, and retighten the bolts securely.
Check the tire pressure to ensure they are equally inflated. Inspect the mower deck for levelness and adjust if necessary. Make sure the blades are sharp and not damaged.
Disconnect the spark plug wire for safety. Remove the mower deck and locate the drive belt. Detach the belt from the pulleys and replace it with a new belt, ensuring proper alignment before reassembling.
Excessive smoke may indicate an overfilled oil reservoir or a clogged air filter. Check the oil level and drain it if necessary. Clean or replace the air filter to improve airflow.
Regularly clean the battery terminals and ensure tight connections. Check the electrolyte levels and top up with distilled water if needed. Store the battery in a cool, dry place during the off-season.
Inspect the mower blades for balance and damage. Check all nuts and bolts to ensure they are tight. Examine the belts and pulleys for wear and replace them if necessary.
