To check the oil level, ensure the motorcycle is on level ground. Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes. Turn off the engine and wait for a couple of minutes. Use the dipstick to check the oil level, ensuring it is between the 'min' and 'max' marks.
Use a high-quality ethylene glycol-based, silicate-free motorcycle coolant. It should be mixed with distilled water in a 50:50 ratio to prevent corrosion and freezing.
Check the battery charge and connections, ensure the kill switch is off, and inspect the starter relay and fuses. If problems persist, the issue may be with the starter motor or ignition switch, so consult a professional.
The recommended tire pressure is 36 psi for the front tire and 42 psi for the rear tire. Always check tire pressure when the tires are cold for an accurate reading.
Brake fluid should be changed every two years, regardless of mileage, as it absorbs moisture over time, which can lead to decreased braking performance.
At 12,000 miles, perform an oil and filter change, inspect the valve clearances, check and adjust the drive chain, inspect the brake pads and discs, and replace the air filter.
To replace the air filter, remove the rider seat and the fuel tank. Unscrew the airbox cover to access the air filter. Remove the old filter and replace it with a new one, ensuring it is seated correctly. Reassemble the components in reverse order.
If overheating occurs, stop the motorcycle safely and let it cool. Check the coolant level, ensure the radiator fan is functioning, and inspect for leaks. If the problem persists, consult a professional mechanic.
Loosen the rear axle nut, adjust the chain tension using the adjuster bolts on each side of the swingarm, ensuring equal adjustment on both sides. Tighten the axle nut to the specified torque and check the chain slack, which should be 20-30mm.
Signs include difficulty in shifting gears, a slipping clutch during acceleration, a spongy clutch lever feel, or unusual noises when the clutch is engaged. If any of these occur, inspection and servicing may be necessary.
