To break in the engine, avoid high RPMs and aggressive riding for the first 600 miles. Vary the engine speed and avoid prolonged idling. Change the oil and oil filter after the initial break-in period.
Use a high-quality 10W-40 motorcycle oil that meets or exceeds the API service classifications SG, SF, or SH. Suzuki recommends using oils that are specifically formulated for motorcycles.
Check and adjust the chain tension every 600 miles or sooner if riding in rough conditions. Ensure the slack is within the specified limit of 1.2 to 1.6 inches (30-40 mm).
The recommended tire pressure is 22 psi (150 kPa) for the front tire and 25 psi (175 kPa) for the rear tire when riding solo. Adjust the pressure based on load and riding conditions.
Check the battery voltage and connections, ensure the fuel valve is on, inspect the spark plug, and verify the kill switch is in the correct position. Clean or replace components as needed.
Perform regular oil and oil filter changes, inspect and clean the air filter, check and adjust the chain, inspect the brake pads and fluid, and tighten all nuts and bolts periodically.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the air filter, and clean it with a non-flammable solvent. Allow it to dry, then apply a thin layer of air filter oil before reinstalling.
Stop the bike in a safe location, allow the engine to cool, check coolant levels, and inspect the radiator and hoses for leaks or obstructions. Refill coolant and rectify any issues before riding again.
Adjust the preload, compression, and rebound settings on the front and rear suspension to suit off-road conditions. Consult the owner’s manual for specific settings based on rider weight and terrain.
Clean the bike thoroughly, change the oil, add fuel stabilizer, disconnect the battery, and store the bike in a dry, protected area. Consider using a motorcycle cover to protect it from dust and moisture.
