To break in the engine, ride below 4000 RPM for the first 500 miles, and avoid rapid acceleration or prolonged high-speed riding. Gradually increase your riding speed and RPMs over the next 500 miles.
Use a high-quality 10W-40 synthetic motorcycle oil. Change the oil every 3,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first.
Adjust the rear shock preload by turning the adjuster with a spanner wrench. For a softer ride, decrease preload; for a firmer ride, increase preload.
Check for any accessories that may be drawing power when the bike is off. Ensure all electrical connections are secure and the charging system is functioning properly. Consider replacing the battery if it's over two years old.
Clean the drive shaft with a mild detergent and water. Regularly check for any signs of wear or damage and apply a suitable lubricant to the universal joint and splines as per the user manual's guidance.
Fill the fuel tank and add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil and filter, clean and lubricate the chain, remove the battery and store it in a warm place, and cover the motorcycle to protect it from dust and moisture.
Check the battery charge and connections, inspect the starter motor and relay, ensure the sidestand is up, and the bike is in neutral. Check the kill switch and ignition for proper operation.
Maintain a tire pressure of 36 PSI for the front tire and 42 PSI for the rear tire for optimal performance and handling.
Locate the brake fluid reservoir, check the level against the sight glass, and add DOT 4 brake fluid if needed. Ensure the brake lines are free of air by bleeding the system if necessary.
Regularly check and change the oil and filter, inspect and clean the air filter, check tire pressures and tread, lubricate the drive components, inspect brakes, and ensure all lights and signals are functioning properly.
