Suzuki DF140BG 2020 Owner's Manual

To break in the Suzuki DF140BG engine, operate at varying speeds not exceeding 3,500 RPM for the first 10 hours. Gradually increase RPM while avoiding full throttle until the break-in period is complete.
The recommended oil type for the Suzuki DF140BG is SAE 10W-40 4-stroke marine engine oil. The oil capacity is approximately 5.8 liters (6.1 US quarts) with an oil filter change.
Check the battery connections and ensure the battery is fully charged. Verify that the fuel system is primed and that the emergency stop switch is properly engaged.
Regular maintenance includes checking and replacing the engine oil and oil filter, inspecting the fuel system, checking the propeller for damage, and flushing the cooling system after each use in saltwater.
Improve fuel efficiency by ensuring the engine is properly tuned, the hull is clean, and the propeller is in good condition. Operating at optimal cruising speed also helps to maximize fuel economy.
To winterize, stabilize the fuel, change the engine oil and filter, flush the cooling system, and lubricate all moving parts. Store the engine in an upright position to prevent water from accumulating.
To replace the impeller, remove the lower unit, take out the water pump housing, and replace the old impeller with a new one. Reassemble the housing and reinstall the lower unit.
Common causes include a blocked water intake, a faulty thermostat, or an impeller that needs replacement. Inspect these components if overheating occurs.
Spark plugs should be inspected and cleaned every 100 hours and replaced every 300 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first.
Check the fuel filter and fuel lines for blockages, inspect the propeller for damage, and ensure the air intake is clear. Additionally, verify that the engine is not in limp mode due to a sensor issue.
