To clean the tape head, open the cassette compartment and use a cotton swab soaked in isopropyl alcohol. Gently wipe the tape heads and capstan. Avoid using excessive force to prevent damage.
Check if the batteries are charged and inserted correctly. Ensure the tape is not jammed and the tape head is clean. If the problem persists, the drive belt may need replacement.
Extend the antenna fully and adjust its position for the best reception. Try changing your location or moving away from electronic devices that may cause interference.
The Sony WM-FX251 uses two AA batteries. For the best performance, use high-quality alkaline batteries or rechargeable NiMH batteries.
Press and hold the CLOCK button until the digits flash. Use the TUNING buttons to set the hours and minutes, then press the CLOCK button again to confirm.
Press the STOP/EJECT button gently to open the compartment. If the tape does not eject, remove the batteries and carefully pull the tape out manually. Avoid using tools that may damage the device.
Use the BAND button to toggle between AM and FM radio. The display will indicate the current band selection.
Distorted sound may be due to a dirty tape head or worn tape. Clean the tape head and try a different tape. Check if the volume is set too high, which may also cause distortion.
The Sony WM-FX251 does not support charging batteries while in use. Remove the batteries and use an external charger for rechargeable batteries.
Slide the MEGA BASS switch to the ON position to enhance the bass response. Adjust the volume to your preference.
