To connect your Sony STR-DE845 to a TV, use an HDMI cable if your TV supports it. Connect one end to the HDMI OUT on the receiver and the other end to an HDMI IN on the TV. For older TVs, use component or composite cables. Ensure the TV input source matches the receiver connection.
First, check all speaker connections to ensure they are secure. Verify the speaker settings in the receiver menu are correct. Make sure the receiver is not on mute and the volume is turned up. Check if the correct input source is selected.
To perform a factory reset, turn off the receiver. Then press and hold the "Power" button while pressing the "Preset Tuning +", "Preset Tuning -", and "Tuning +" buttons simultaneously until "All Clear" appears on the display. Release the buttons to reset.
Overheating could be due to inadequate ventilation. Ensure the receiver has enough space around it for airflow. Avoid placing it in enclosed areas or stacking other devices on top. Clean dust from vents regularly.
Use the receiver's built-in calibration settings found in the menu. Adjust the speaker levels and distances manually through the "Speaker Setup" menu to suit your room’s acoustics. Use a sound meter for more precise calibration.
The "Protect" message indicates a short circuit or overheating. Turn off the receiver and disconnect all speaker wires. Check for any shorted wires or loose connections. Once resolved, reconnect and power on the receiver.
The Sony STR-DE845 does not support firmware updates as it is an older model. Ensure all physical connections are solid and consider contacting Sony support for any operational issues.
The STR-DE845 does not have built-in Bluetooth capability. To connect Bluetooth devices, use a Bluetooth audio adapter connected through the auxiliary input or any available audio input.
Connect the subwoofer to the receiver using an RCA cable from the subwoofer output on the receiver to the line-in on the subwoofer. Adjust settings in the receiver menu under "Speaker Setup" to enable the subwoofer and set the crossover frequency.
Regularly dust the exterior and vents to prevent overheating. Periodically check and secure all cable connections. Avoid exposing the receiver to moisture or extreme temperatures. Use a surge protector to safeguard against power surges.
