The Sony SAL135F28 is a 135mm F2.8 STF (Smooth Trans Focus) lens, designed to deliver smooth and beautiful bokeh. It features an apodization filter to enhance defocusing effects and a circular aperture for natural-looking out-of-focus areas.
To achieve the best bokeh with the SAL135F28, use a wide aperture setting to maximize the defocusing effect. Position your subject away from the background to enhance the bokeh, and use the STF feature to smooth out the transition from in-focus to out-of-focus areas.
Regularly clean the lens with a microfiber cloth and lens cleaning solution. Avoid touching the lens elements with your fingers. Store the lens in a dry, dust-free environment, and use a lens cap when not in use to protect against scratches and dust.
First, ensure that the camera body is set to autofocus mode. Clean the electrical contacts on both the lens and camera body with a dry cloth. If the problem persists, try using the lens with another camera to determine if the issue is with the lens or the camera body.
The Sony SAL135F28 lens does not feature weather-sealing. It is recommended to use this lens in dry conditions and to take precautions when shooting in adverse weather to prevent moisture ingress.
You can switch between manual and autofocus by using the focus mode switch located on the lens barrel. Ensure that your camera body is also set to the corresponding focus mode to use the desired setting effectively.
Store the lens with both the front and rear lens caps on to prevent dust accumulation. Keep it in a padded lens case or camera bag in a cool, dry place to avoid humidity and temperature extremes.
To reduce lens flare, use a lens hood to block stray light. Avoid shooting directly into strong light sources, and try to angle the lens to minimize reflections within the lens elements.
The Sony SAL135F28 lens accepts 72mm screw-on filters. Ensure you use the correct size to avoid vignetting and ensure proper fit.
The Sony SAL135F28 can be used with compatible Sony teleconverters, but note that using a teleconverter may affect autofocus performance and image quality. Always check compatibility with your specific teleconverter model.
