To set up your Sony PS-LX120, first place the turntable on a stable surface. Attach the platter and belt according to the manual, connect the power, and attach the RCA cables to your audio system. Make sure the tonearm is balanced and the tracking force is correctly set.
Check if the power cord is securely connected to the outlet and the turntable. Ensure the outlet is functional. If the problem persists, inspect the power switch for damage and consult the manual for further troubleshooting steps.
Ensure the turntable is on a level surface and the tracking force is correctly adjusted. Check that the stylus is clean and not worn out. Also, make sure the record is clean and free from dust and scratches.
Regularly clean the stylus with a stylus brush, ensure the turntable platter is free from dust, and check the belt for wear and tear. Periodically inspect the tonearm balance and tracking force.
To replace the stylus, gently remove the old stylus by pulling it away from the cartridge. Align the new stylus with the cartridge and push it in until it clicks securely into place.
Check the connections of the RCA cables to ensure they are secure. Clean the stylus and records, and verify that the tracking force and anti-skate settings are correctly adjusted.
To balance the tonearm, first set the anti-skate to zero. Move the counterweight until the tonearm floats level, then set the tracking force dial to the recommended setting for your cartridge.
The recommended tracking force for the Sony PS-LX120 is typically around 2 grams, but always refer to the cartridge manufacturer's specifications for the most accurate setting.
Use the RCA output cables to connect the turntable to the Phono input on your stereo system. If your system lacks a Phono input, you may need a separate phono preamplifier to connect to a line-level input.
Check if the belt is properly positioned and not stretched or worn. Clean the belt and motor pulley. If the issue persists, the motor may need servicing or replacement.
