The Sony ICF-C743 can use a 9V battery as a backup power source to maintain clock and alarm settings during a power outage. It does not operate on battery power exclusively.
Try adjusting the position of the antenna for better reception. Ensure the unit is placed away from electronic devices that may cause interference.
To reset the clock radio, unplug it from the power source, remove the backup battery, and leave it without power for a few minutes before reconnecting.
Set the alarm mode switch to 'RADIO'. Ensure that the desired radio station is tuned in and the volume is set appropriately.
Check if the alarm is set to 'OFF'. Ensure the alarm time is set correctly and that the unit is plugged in and receiving power.
The volume of the alarm can be adjusted using the 'Volume' knob on the radio. Ensure you set it to a level that is loud enough to wake you.
Regularly clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners. Check and replace the backup battery as needed to prevent leakage.
