Sony ICF-C242 Operating Instructions

To set the time, press and hold the TIME button. While holding it, press the HOUR button to set the hour and the MINUTE button to set the minutes. Release the TIME button once the correct time is displayed.
Press and hold the ALARM button. While holding it, use the HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set your desired alarm time. Release the ALARM button when done. Ensure the ALARM switch is set to either RADIO or BUZZER.
Check if there was a power interruption or if the clock needs to be reset. Follow the instructions to set the time again. Make sure the unit is plugged in properly.
Ensure that the clock radio is properly plugged into a working electrical outlet. Check for any blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers in your home.
Try adjusting the position of the FM wire antenna and reorienting the unit for better AM band reception. Avoid placing the radio near electronic devices that can cause interference.
Ensure the ALARM switch is set to either RADIO or BUZZER. Check if the volume is turned up sufficiently if using the radio alarm. Verify the alarm time settings and that the unit is plugged in.
The Sony ICF-C242 does not run on batteries but has a battery backup feature. Insert a 9V battery to maintain the clock and alarm settings during power outages.
Use the BAND switch located on the side of the unit to toggle between AM and FM bands.
Use a 9V alkaline battery for the backup feature to ensure the clock and alarm settings are retained during power outages.
Unplug the device and use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the exterior. Avoid using any liquids or abrasive cleaners.
