To change the cassette, press the Stop/Eject button to open the cassette compartment. Remove the old cassette and insert a new one with the tape side facing down. Close the compartment securely.
First, ensure the power cord is properly plugged into a working outlet. Check the fuse or circuit breaker if necessary. If using batteries, make sure they are inserted correctly and have sufficient charge.
To clean the tape heads, open the cassette compartment and gently clean the heads with a cotton swab dampened with isopropyl alcohol. Allow the heads to dry completely before using the unit again.
Distorted sound can result from dirty tape heads or worn-out tapes. Clean the tape heads as described in the manual and try playing a different cassette to see if the issue persists.
To improve radio reception, extend the antenna fully and adjust its position. Try moving the unit closer to a window or away from other electronic devices that may cause interference.
If the cassette door does not open, ensure that the unit is powered on and press the Stop/Eject button firmly. If it remains stuck, gently tap the door or consult the manual for troubleshooting tips.
Insert a blank cassette into the deck and tune to the desired radio station. Press the Record button while holding down the Play button to start recording. Press Stop when finished.
If the tape speed is incorrect, the belts inside the unit may be worn or slipping. Consider servicing the unit or replacing the belts if comfortable doing so.
The Sony CFS-W504 is designed with built-in speakers and does not support external speaker connections. For enhanced sound, consider using a compatible auxiliary device.
Regularly clean the tape heads, keep the unit dust-free, and store it in a cool, dry place. Avoid using old or damaged tapes, and periodically check the power cord and belts for signs of wear.
