Sony CFS-E2 Operating Instructions

To reset the Sony CFS-E2, unplug the unit from the power source for a few minutes and then plug it back in. This will restore the default factory settings.
Ensure that the cassette is properly inserted and that the tape is not damaged. Also, check that the heads are clean and free of dust or debris.
Use a cotton swab lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the heads and tape path. Be sure the unit is turned off and unplugged before cleaning.
Extend the antenna to its full length and adjust its position. If indoors, try placing the unit near a window or higher location for better reception.
Check if the volume is turned up and if the mute function is activated. Also, ensure that the headphones are not plugged in, as this will disable the speakers.
Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period. Use fresh, high-quality batteries and avoid mixing old and new ones.
Stop using the device immediately and replace the power cord with a genuine Sony replacement to avoid electrical hazards.
Use the band selector switch on the device to toggle between AM and FM bands. Make sure the unit is set to radio mode.
This could be due to the tape being too tight or the auto-stop feature activating because of excessive tension. Try rewinding the tape fully and then playing it again.
The Sony CFS-E2 is designed for use with its built-in speakers and does not support external speaker connections.
