Ensure that the power cord is securely plugged into both the unit and a functioning outlet. Check if the outlet is controlled by a wall switch. If the problem persists, try a different outlet or replace the power cord.
For better radio reception, fully extend the telescopic antenna and adjust its angle. You may also try repositioning the unit to avoid interference from electronic devices.
To clean the CD player, use a soft, dry cloth to gently wipe the CD tray and laser lens. Avoid using any liquid cleaners. For stubborn dirt, a lens cleaning disc can be used.
To reset the Sony CFD-980, disconnect the power cord for a few minutes, then reconnect it. This will reset the system settings to default.
The Sony CFD-980 requires six D-size batteries for portable operation. Make sure to insert them with the correct polarity.
To use the tape player, open the cassette compartment, insert a cassette tape, and close the compartment. Press 'Play' to start playback. Use the 'Stop', 'Rewind', and 'Fast Forward' buttons for tape control.
Sound distortion can occur if the CD is dirty or scratched. Clean the CD with a soft cloth. Check the volume level and reduce it if it's too high. Ensure that the speakers are not obstructed.
Use an auxiliary cable to connect external audio devices to the 'AUDIO IN' jack on the front of the unit. Select the 'Tape/Audio In' function to play audio from the connected device.
Regularly dust the exterior with a soft cloth and keep the unit away from excessive heat and humidity. Avoid using harsh chemicals for cleaning. Check and replace batteries when necessary and avoid leaving CDs and tapes inside the unit when not in use.
