Sony CFD-656 Operating Instructions

To set the clock on your Sony CFD-656, press the "Clock" button until the time display starts flashing. Use the "Hour" and "Minute" buttons to adjust the time, then press "Clock" again to confirm.
First, check that the disc is clean and not scratched. If the issue persists, try cleaning the lens with a lens cleaning disc. Ensure that the disc is inserted correctly and that the unit is on a stable surface.
To improve radio reception, try extending the antenna fully and repositioning it. If possible, move the unit closer to a window and away from electronic devices that might cause interference.
The Sony CFD-656 does not have an option to connect external speakers directly. It is designed to be a standalone unit with built-in speakers.
To clean the tape heads, use a cotton swab moistened with isopropyl alcohol. Gently rub the swab on the heads and capstans. Make sure the unit is turned off and unplugged during cleaning.
The Sony CFD-656 may turn off automatically due to a power-saving feature. Ensure that it's not set to a timer mode. Also, check the power connection and ensure the batteries (if used) are fully charged.
Insert a blank cassette tape, tune to the desired radio station, and press the "Record" and "Play" buttons simultaneously. Stop recording by pressing the "Stop" button when done.
Check for any obstructions in the tape compartment. Clean the tape heads and ensure the tape is properly inserted. If issues persist, the cassette mechanism may require professional servicing.
Use the "Function" button to cycle through available audio sources such as CD, Tape, and Radio.
The Sony CFD-656 uses six size C batteries. To replace them, open the battery compartment on the back of the unit, remove the old batteries, and insert the new ones following the polarity markings.
