To set the radio station presets on the Sony CFD-121, tune in to the desired station using the TUNING buttons. Once the station is set, press and hold the MEMORY button until the preset number flashes. Use the PRESET + or PRESET - buttons to select the preset number, then press MEMORY again to save.
If your Sony CFD-121 is not turning on, ensure it is connected to a power source. Check the power cord for any damage and verify that the batteries are correctly installed if using battery power. If the issue persists, try a different outlet or replace the batteries.
To improve sound quality on the Sony CFD-121, ensure the speakers are unobstructed and adjust the MEGA BASS feature to your preference. Experiment with speaker placement, ensuring they are not placed directly against a wall.
If the CD player skips, ensure the disc is clean and free of scratches. Clean the player’s lens with a CD lens cleaner. Make sure the unit is on a stable surface to avoid vibrations that can cause skipping.
To clean the cassette player heads, open the cassette compartment and gently clean the heads with a cotton swab moistened with isopropyl alcohol. Allow the heads to dry completely before using the cassette player.
If there is no sound, check that the volume is turned up and not muted. Ensure the correct function (CD, TAPE, RADIO) is selected. Verify that headphones are not plugged in, and check speaker connections if applicable.
The Sony CFD-121 does not support connecting external speakers directly, as it is designed as a standalone unit. You can use the headphone jack to connect to an external speaker system if needed.
To reset the Sony CFD-121 to factory settings, disconnect the power cord and remove the batteries. Leave the unit powered off for a few minutes before reconnecting the power to reset the system.
The Sony CFD-121 requires 6 size C (R14) batteries for portable operation. Ensure that the batteries are installed correctly, matching the polarity indicated in the battery compartment.
To extend battery life, use the radio or cassette functions instead of the CD player, as they consume less power. Turn off MEGA BASS when not needed and ensure the unit is turned off when not in use.
