To change the oil, first ensure the tractor is on a flat surface. Warm up the engine to thin the oil, then turn it off. Remove the oil drain plug and let the old oil drain completely. Replace the drain plug and refill with new oil, checking the dipstick for the correct level.
Check the battery connections for corrosion and ensure they are tight. Verify that the fuel tank has sufficient gas and that the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for damage and replace if necessary. Ensure the PTO is disengaged and the parking brake is engaged before starting.
It is recommended to sharpen the mower blades every 25 hours of use or at the beginning of each mowing season for optimal performance. Check for any nicks or bends and replace if necessary.
Remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. If it's a foam filter, wash it in warm soapy water and let it dry completely before reinstallation. For paper filters, tap gently to remove debris or replace if it's excessively dirty.
Ensure blades are sharp and balanced. Adjust the mowing deck to ensure it's level and correct the tire pressure according to the manual. Mow when grass is dry and regularly change the mowing pattern.
Check for unbalanced or damaged blades, loose bolts, and debris under the deck. Ensure the engine mounting bolts are secure and inspect the drive belts for wear or damage.
Locate the drive belt tension adjustment bolt near the engine pulley. Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjustment bolt to increase or decrease tension. Retighten the lock nut once the desired tension is achieved.
Clean the tractor thoroughly, remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry place, add a fuel stabilizer to the gas tank, and cover the tractor to protect it from dust and moisture.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, use a spark plug socket to remove the old plug, and check the gap of the new spark plug according to the manual. Install the new plug and reconnect the spark plug wire.
Ensure the cooling fins are clean and free of debris. Check the engine oil level and refill if necessary. Make sure the air intake screen is not blocked and verify that the engine is not overloaded.
