Ensure the Outlaw is on a flat surface, turn the ignition key to the 'ON' position, and make sure the engine stop switch is set to 'RUN'. Pull the brake lever, press the start button, and release the brake gradually once the engine is running.
Check if the fuel tank has enough fuel, ensure the battery is charged, verify the ignition key is in the 'ON' position, and inspect the engine stop switch. If issues persist, consult the user manual or a professional technician.
Routine maintenance should be performed every 25 hours of operation or once a month, whichever comes first. This includes checking the oil, brakes, and tire pressure, as well as inspecting the drive chain.
Polaris recommends using their own brand of 10W-30 or 10W-40 engine oil, specifically designed for ATVs, to ensure optimal performance and protection.
First, elevate the rear of the Outlaw using a suitable jack. Loosen the rear axle nuts, adjust the chain tensioner bolts until the desired tension is attained, and then retighten the axle nuts. Ensure the chain has about 1/2 inch of slack.
Check the brake fluid level and top it up if necessary. Inspect the brake lines for leaks or air bubbles, and bleed the brakes if needed to remove air from the system.
Adjust the tire pressure to the recommended levels, check the wheel alignment, and ensure the suspension is set according to the rider's weight and preference.
Ensure the radiator is not clogged with dirt or debris, check that the cooling fan is operational, and verify the coolant level is adequate. Avoid idling for long periods and ensure proper airflow when riding.
The recommended tire pressure is usually between 4 to 6 PSI for optimal performance, but consult the owner's manual for the exact specifications for your specific model.
Clean the Outlaw thoroughly, change the oil, fill the gas tank and add a fuel stabilizer, disconnect the battery, and store it in a dry, covered location. Inflate the tires to the proper pressure and periodically rotate them to prevent flat spots.
