To properly break in the engine, operate your snowmobile at varying speeds and avoid full-throttle operation for the first 10 hours of use. This allows the engine components to seat properly.
It is recommended to use Polaris Blue Synthetic 2-Cycle Oil, which is specifically formulated for Polaris snowmobiles to provide optimal performance and protection.
Spark plugs should be inspected and replaced if necessary every 2,000 miles or every season, whichever comes first. Regular inspection can prevent ignition issues.
Ensure the choke is used correctly during starting and check that the battery is fully charged. Additionally, verify that you are using the correct fuel and oil mixture.
To adjust the track tension, elevate the rear of the snowmobile and use a spring scale to measure the tension. Adjust the track tension bolts until the desired tension is achieved. Consult the owner's manual for specific tension values.
Before storing, clean the snowmobile thoroughly, stabilize the fuel, fog the engine, lubricate suspension and steering components, and store in a cool, dry place. Ensure the battery is removed or maintained with a trickle charger.
Regularly check the coolant level and ensure the radiator is clean and free from obstructions. Avoid operating the snowmobile on hard surfaces for extended periods, as this can lead to overheating.
The Polaris Widetrak LX 2012 does not have tires, but rather uses skis. Ensure that the ski runners are in good condition and replace them if worn out for optimal handling.
Check all fuses and connections, ensuring they are secure and not corroded. Use a multimeter to test the battery voltage and other electrical components for continuity.
Inspect the throttle cable for kinks or damage, lubricate the cable if necessary, and ensure that the throttle lever and housing are clean and free of debris.
