To pre-mix fuel for the Polaris Trail RMK 2006, use a 40:1 ratio of gasoline to two-stroke oil. This means adding 3.2 ounces of oil per gallon of gasoline. Make sure to use high-quality two-stroke oil and fresh gasoline.
The recommended track tension for the Polaris Trail RMK 2006 is to have 3/8 to 1/2 inch of slack between the track and the slide rail when measured at the midpoint of the track. Adjust the tension by using the tensioning bolts located at the rear of the skid frame.
For cold weather starting issues, ensure the battery is fully charged and the fuel is fresh. Use a fuel stabilizer if the snowmobile is stored for extended periods. Check the choke and ensure it's functioning properly. If problems persist, inspect the spark plugs and replace them if necessary.
After each riding season, clean the snowmobile thoroughly, change the chaincase oil, inspect and lubricate the suspension and steering components, check the condition of the drive belt, and store the vehicle in a dry, covered area. Additionally, consider using a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation.
To adjust the carburetor, first ensure the engine is warmed up. Adjust the idle speed screw to achieve a stable idle. Then, adjust the air-fuel mixture screw by turning it slowly until the highest idle speed is achieved, then back it out slightly. Make fine adjustments as necessary for optimal performance.
If the snowmobile overheats, stop the engine immediately and allow it to cool. Check for blockages in the cooling system and ensure the cooling fins are clean. Verify the coolant level and top it off if necessary. Inspect the thermostat and water pump for proper operation.
To replace the drive belt, first remove the belt guard. Then, open the secondary clutch by squeezing it inward and slip the old belt off the clutches. Install the new belt by placing it over the secondary clutch first, then around the primary clutch. Ensure the belt is seated correctly and reinstall the belt guard.
The recommended spark plugs for the Polaris Trail RMK 2006 are NGK BPR9ES. Ensure the spark plugs are gapped correctly to 0.028 inches before installation for optimal engine performance.
To maintain the suspension, regularly inspect all suspension components for wear or damage. Lubricate the suspension pivot points with the appropriate grease. Check the shock absorbers for leaks and ensure they are functioning correctly. Adjust the spring preload to suit your riding style and weight.
Common electrical issues include battery failure, loose connections, and faulty ignition switches. To fix these, ensure the battery is charged and terminals are clean and tight. Inspect all wiring for signs of wear or damage and replace as needed. If the ignition switch is faulty, it may need to be replaced.
