Ensure the ATV is in neutral, turn the ignition key to the 'on' position, and press the start button. If it doesn't start, check the fuel level and battery charge.
Use a high-quality 10W-30 or 10W-40 engine oil suitable for ATVs. Refer to the owner's manual for specific recommendations.
Change the oil every 50 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. Always replace the oil filter when changing the oil.
Check the coolant level and ensure the radiator is not clogged. Also, inspect the fan operation. Overheating can be caused by low coolant or restricted airflow.
Loosen the rear axle nuts, adjust the chain tensioner bolts until the chain has about 1/2 inch of slack, then retighten the axle nuts.
Check the fuel supply, ensure the kill switch is in the 'run' position, check the battery connections, and inspect the spark plug for fouling.
Keep the battery terminals clean and tight, charge the battery regularly if not used frequently, and store it in a cool, dry place during off-season.
Check tire pressure, inspect brakes, ensure all lights work, check oil and coolant levels, and look for any loose bolts or components.
Remove the air filter cover, take out the filter, clean it with a mild detergent and water, dry it completely, and re-oil before reinstalling.
Check for clogged air filters, dirty fuel filters, or old spark plugs. These can restrict airflow, fuel, or spark, leading to power loss.
