The recommended engine oil for the Polaris Scrambler 850 is Polaris PS-4 5W-50, which is specially formulated for Polaris 4-cycle engines.
To check the coolant level, locate the coolant reservoir under the front rack. Ensure the engine is cool, and the vehicle is on a level surface. The coolant should be between the 'MIN' and 'MAX' marks on the reservoir.
To clean the air filter, remove the seat and access the airbox. Take out the air filter, wash it with warm soapy water, rinse, and allow it to dry completely. Re-oil the filter with a foam filter oil and reinstall.
Start by checking the battery connections and charge. Ensure the fuel is fresh and the fuel valve is open. Inspect the spark plug for wear or damage and replace if necessary.
Adjusting the drive belt tension is not typically required on the Polaris Scrambler 850 as it uses a CVT system. If you suspect belt issues, inspect for wear or replace the belt as needed.
Polaris recommends changing the transmission fluid every 100 hours of operation or annually, whichever comes first. Use Polaris AGL Synthetic Gearcase Lubricant.
While aftermarket parts can be used, it is recommended to use genuine Polaris parts to ensure compatibility and maintain warranty coverage.
If the EPS system fails, check the EPS fuse and wiring connections. If the issue persists, consult a Polaris dealer for a diagnostic check.
Perform a pre-ride inspection by checking tire pressure, oil level, coolant level, brake function, and ensuring all lights are operational.
The recommended tire pressure for a Polaris Sportsman 850 SP is typically 7 psi for the front tires and 10 psi for the rear tires. Check the owner’s manual for specific recommendations.
