To start the Polaris FS IQ Widetrak in cold conditions, ensure the choke is engaged to enrich the fuel mixture. Turn the ignition key to start, and once the engine is running smoothly, gradually disengage the choke as the engine warms up.
It is recommended to check the engine oil and coolant levels before each ride. Perform a full inspection every 500 miles, which includes checking the drive belt, suspension, and brake systems. An annual service should include a thorough inspection and replacement of any worn components.
If the engine won't start, check the fuel level and ensure there is no moisture in the fuel. Verify that the spark plugs are clean and properly gapped. Inspect the battery for charge and connections. Also, ensure the kill switch is in the 'run' position.
The Polaris FS IQ Widetrak is designed to run on unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Using higher-octane fuel can improve performance and efficiency, but is not necessary.
To adjust the suspension settings, locate the suspension adjustment knobs, usually found on the shock absorbers. Rotate the knobs to increase or decrease the preload based on your weight and riding conditions. Refer to the owner's manual for specific settings recommendations.
If the track is loose, elevate the rear of the snowmobile and check the track tension using a track tension gauge. Adjust the track tension bolts evenly on both sides of the track until the recommended tension is achieved. Ensure the track is aligned properly before lowering the snowmobile.
To prevent overheating, regularly check and maintain coolant levels, ensure the radiator is free of debris, and inspect the cooling fan for proper operation. Avoid running the engine at high RPMs for extended periods in low-snow conditions.
Signs of a worn drive belt include fraying, cracking, or glazing. To replace it, remove the belt guard and loosen the tension on the belt. Slide the belt off the pulleys, replace it with a new one, ensuring proper alignment, and retighten the tension.
For off-season storage, clean the snowmobile thoroughly and apply a coat of wax to the exterior. Drain the fuel system or add a fuel stabilizer. Disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Cover the snowmobile to protect it from dust and moisture.
If the snowmobile is not accelerating properly, inspect the drive belt for wear and ensure it is properly tensioned. Check the clutch for any signs of damage or wear. Additionally, verify that the throttle cable is not sticking and is properly adjusted.
