To start the Polaris 120 Pro RX, ensure the key is inserted into the ignition. Set the choke if the engine is cold, and then pull the starter rope firmly until the engine starts.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using ethanol-blended fuels above E10 to prevent engine issues.
Check if the fuel tank is full, the kill switch is in the 'run' position, and the choke is set correctly. Inspect the spark plug for fouling and replace if necessary.
Regular maintenance includes checking and cleaning the spark plug, inspecting and adjusting the chain tension, lubricating the suspension, and verifying the track tension and alignment.
Elevate the rear of the snowmobile and measure the track deflection. Adjust the track tension bolts evenly on both sides until the proper deflection is achieved, typically between 3/8 and 1/2 inch.
Ensure the cooling fins are clear of snow and ice. Check the fan belt for proper tension and ensure the radiator isn't clogged. Consider reducing the load or speed if overheating persists.
Maintain regular service intervals, ensure the air filter is clean, and keep the track properly aligned and tensioned. Avoid excessive idling and operate at moderate speeds.
Check the throttle and brake operation, ensure the lights are functional, verify the track and ski condition, and inspect the fuel and oil levels. Wear appropriate safety gear.
Drain the fuel tank or add a fuel stabilizer, clean the exterior, lubricate the moving parts, and store the snowmobile in a dry, covered area. Disconnect the battery or use a battery maintainer.
Inspect the throttle cable for kinks or frays. Lubricate the cable and throttle lever. If the issue persists, replace the cable or consult a professional technician.
