The recommended fuel type for the Nissan NS50 Outboard Motor is unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher.
Regular maintenance should be performed every 100 hours of operation or at least once a year, whichever comes first.
To flush the cooling system, attach a garden hose to the flushing port and run fresh water through the system for about 5 minutes while the engine is off.
Check the fuel level, ensure the fuel line is not kinked, verify the kill switch is in the correct position, and check the spark plugs for wear or damage.
Use a high-quality 2-stroke marine engine oil that meets NMMA TC-W3 standards.
Regularly rinse the motor with fresh water after each use in saltwater, and apply anti-corrosion spray to exposed metal parts.
Overheating could be caused by a blocked water intake, faulty water pump, or insufficient oil level. Check and address these issues to resolve overheating.
Drain the fuel system, apply fogging oil to the cylinders, change the gear oil, and store the motor in a dry place covered with a breathable cover.
Check if the propeller is damaged or imbalanced and inspect the engine mounts for wear or looseness. Replace or repair as necessary.
Ensure the engine is well-maintained, use the correct propeller size, and operate the motor at optimal RPMs to improve fuel efficiency.
