To start the Nissan NS25C3, ensure the fuel tank is filled and the fuel line is connected. Open the fuel vent on the fuel tank. Set the throttle to the start position, and ensure the gear lever is in neutral. Pull the choke out if the engine is cold, then pull the starter rope firmly. Push the choke in as the engine warms up.
Perform regular maintenance every 100 hours or annually, whichever comes first. This includes checking and replacing the engine oil, inspecting the fuel system, cleaning or replacing the spark plugs, and checking the propeller for damage.
First, check the fuel level and ensure the fuel line is properly connected. Verify that the kill switch is in the correct position and that the battery is charged if it’s an electric start model. Inspect the spark plugs for wear or damage, and ensure the choke is functioning properly.
Use regular unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid fuel with more than 10% ethanol content to prevent damage to the engine.
To winterize the motor, drain the fuel system or add a fuel stabilizer. Change the engine oil and lower unit oil. Flush the engine with fresh water, and spray fogging oil into the cylinders to prevent corrosion. Store the motor in a dry, well-ventilated area.
Check the water intake for blockages and ensure the water pump is functioning correctly. Clean the cooling passages and replace the impeller if necessary. Make sure the thermostat is operational and not stuck closed.
Inspect the propeller for damage, such as dents or bends. Ensure the propeller is securely fastened and balanced. Check the engine mounts for wear or looseness, and tighten or replace them as needed.
Disconnect the spark plug wires and use a spark plug socket to remove the old plugs. Check the gap on the new plugs and adjust if necessary. Install the new plugs by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten them with a socket. Reattach the spark plug wires.
Rinse the exterior with fresh water after each use to remove salt and debris. Use a mild detergent and a soft brush to clean the surface. Wax the motor periodically to protect the finish and prevent corrosion.
Locate the idle speed adjustment screw on the carburetor. Turn the screw clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease it. Ensure the engine is running smoothly and does not stall at low speeds.
