Mazda RX-8 2009 Maintenance Schedule

Mazda recommends using SAE 5W-20 oil for the RX-8 2009. Always ensure the oil meets or exceeds the API SL standard.
For optimal performance, it is recommended to replace the spark plugs every 30,000 miles or 48,000 kilometers.
The recommended tire pressure is 32 psi for both front and rear tires. Always check the pressure when the tires are cold.
To reset the maintenance light, turn the ignition to the ON position, press the TRIP button until the main odometer mileage is displayed, then turn the ignition OFF. Press and hold the TRIP button, turn the ignition to the ON position, and hold until the maintenance light turns off.
Engine flooding can occur if the engine is started and turned off before reaching operating temperature. To prevent this, avoid short trips and always allow the engine to warm up if it needs to be started and then turned off.
The RX-8 2009 is equipped with a sealed transmission, meaning there is no dipstick for checking the fluid. It is recommended that the transmission fluid be checked and serviced by a professional.
The coolant should be changed every 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. Use only FL22 type coolant for optimal performance.
Signs of failing ignition coils include engine misfires, rough idling, reduced power, and difficulty starting the engine. It is advisable to replace the coils if these symptoms occur.
To improve fuel efficiency, ensure regular maintenance is performed, such as replacing air filters and spark plugs, keeping tire pressure at recommended levels, and reducing unnecessary idling.
If the check engine light illuminates, check for loose or damaged gas cap, as this is a common cause. If the cap is secure, have the vehicle diagnosed by a professional to determine the cause of the warning light.
