To properly break in the engine, ride the motorcycle gently for the first 1-2 hours. Avoid full throttle and high RPMs. Gradually increase the load and RPMs over the next few hours. Regularly check and adjust oil and coolant levels.
Use a high-quality 10W-50 synthetic oil. The first oil change should occur after the initial 1-2 hours of breaking in the engine, followed by every 15 hours of use or as needed based on riding conditions.
Check the battery charge and connections, ensure the fuel tank has sufficient fuel, inspect the spark plug and replace if necessary, and verify that the kill switch is not engaged.
Remove the air filter and clean it with a suitable cleaner. Allow it to dry completely, then re-oil it with air filter oil. Reinstall carefully to ensure a good seal. Clean and check the air box for debris.
Refer to the owner's manual for baseline suspension settings. Adjust the preload, compression, and rebound damping based on the terrain and your riding style. Softer settings are generally preferred for rocky terrains, while firmer settings suit hard-packed tracks.
Stop riding immediately to prevent engine damage. Allow the engine to cool down. Check the coolant level and top up if necessary. Inspect the radiator for blockages and clean as needed.
Regularly clean the chain with a suitable cleaner and brush. After cleaning, lubricate the chain with a high-quality chain lube. Check the tension and adjust as per the owner's manual recommendations.
Clean the motorcycle thoroughly, lubricate all moving parts, drain the fuel system or add a fuel stabilizer, disconnect the battery, and store the bike in a dry, cool place. Cover it to protect against dust and moisture.
Ensure the engine is off and the bike is stable. Adjust the clutch lever free play using the adjuster on the clutch perch. Set the free play to about 3-4 mm to ensure proper clutch engagement and disengagement.
Check tire pressures and tread condition, inspect brakes and fluid levels, verify that the lights are functioning, check chain tension and lubrication, and ensure all controls and cables are operating smoothly.
