To change the oil, warm up the engine, place the bike on a stand, remove the skid plate, and then unscrew the drain plug to let the oil flow out. Replace the oil filter, reinstall the drain plug, and refill with the recommended oil type and quantity specified in the manual.
Check the battery charge, inspect the spark plug for fouling, ensure the fuel is fresh, and the fuel valve is open. Additionally, verify that the kill switch is in the 'run' position and check for any error codes on the display.
Begin by setting the sag using the preload adjuster. For the fork, turn the compression and rebound clickers according to your riding style and conditions. Adjust the shock absorber similarly to achieve a balanced and comfortable ride.
For optimal performance, maintain a tire pressure of around 12-15 psi for off-road use. Adjust based on terrain and rider preference, ensuring both tires have equal pressure for balanced handling.
Remove the seat and airbox cover, take out the filter, and clean it with a mild detergent before letting it dry. Apply air filter oil evenly, ensuring it's not overly saturated, then reinstall the filter and secure it properly.
Watch for signs such as excessive slack, rust, kinks, or missing O-rings. Additionally, uneven sprocket wear or noise during riding could indicate the need for chain replacement or adjustment.
Remove the valve cover to access the valves. Use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the valve and cam lobe. Adjust using the appropriate shims if necessary, following the specifications outlined in the service manual.
During the first few hours of riding, avoid high RPMs and refrain from holding a constant throttle. Vary the engine speed and avoid full-throttle starts to ensure proper engine break-in.
Check all fuses and connections for corrosion or damage. Use a multimeter to test battery voltage and continuity in the wiring harness. Inspect the ignition system and sensors for any faults or loose connections.
Brake pad replacement depends on riding conditions and style. Inspect them regularly for wear and replace them when the pad material is worn down to about 1mm, or if you notice decreased braking performance.
