For the KTM EXC 150 TPI 2021, it is recommended to use a high-quality, fully synthetic 2-stroke oil that meets JASO FD or ISO-L-EGD specifications.
To adjust the suspension, refer to the owner's manual for baseline settings and adjust the compression and rebound damping according to the terrain. Experiment with settings to find the optimal balance for your riding style.
Check the battery charge, inspect the spark plug for fouling, ensure fuel supply to the engine, and verify that the kill switch is in the correct position.
The air filter should be inspected and cleaned after every ride in dusty conditions, and replaced every 10-15 hours of operation or sooner if it shows signs of excessive dirt and damage.
During the first 3 hours of operation, avoid full throttle and excessive engine loading. Gradually increase the engine load and vary engine speeds to ensure proper seating of engine components.
Check for clogged fuel filters, inspect the fuel pump for proper operation, ensure the electrical connections to the injectors are secure, and scan for fault codes using a diagnostic tool.
For hard terrain, maintain a tire pressure of about 12-14 psi; for soft terrain, reduce pressure to 10-12 psi to improve traction. Always adjust according to specific riding conditions and personal preference.
Regularly clean the chain with a suitable chain cleaner, lubricate it with a high-quality chain lube, and check for proper tension. Adjust the chain tension to have about 10-15 mm of slack.
Inspect the brake fluid level and top off if necessary. Check for air in the brake lines and bleed the brakes if required. Also, inspect brake pads and rotors for wear.
Maintain proper air filter and spark plug condition, ensure the correct tire pressure, and ride smoothly with gradual acceleration to improve fuel efficiency. Regular maintenance also helps in achieving better mileage.
