To properly break-in your KTM Duke 790, keep the engine speed below 7500 RPM for the first 1000 kilometers. Gradually increase the engine load and avoid full throttle starts. This ensures the engine components wear evenly and extend engine life.
The recommended tire pressure for the KTM Duke 790 2018 is 33 psi for the front tire and 36 psi for the rear tire. Always check and adjust tire pressures when the tires are cold.
It is recommended to change the oil every 15,000 kilometers or once a year, whichever comes first. Always use the recommended oil grade as specified in the owner’s manual.
A rough idle may be caused by a clogged air filter, dirty fuel injectors, or spark plug issues. Inspect and clean or replace the air filter, use a fuel injector cleaner, and check the spark plugs for wear or fouling.
To adjust the chain tension, place the bike on a stand, loosen the axle nut, and adjust the chain adjusters evenly on both sides until the chain has 5-7 mm of slack. Tighten the axle nut and recheck the tension.
Signs of clutch cable issues include difficulty shifting gears, a slipping clutch, or a sticky clutch lever. Inspect the cable for fraying or rust and adjust the free play to 2-3 mm at the lever. Replace if damaged.
Check the battery charge and connections, ensure the kill switch is in the run position, and inspect the fuel supply. If issues persist, examine the starter motor and relay, or consult a professional mechanic.
During routine maintenance, inspect the brake pads and fluid levels, check tire condition and pressures, lubricate the chain, and ensure all lights and signals are functioning. Regularly review the owner’s manual for additional tasks.
To reset the service light, turn on the ignition without starting the engine. Navigate to the service menu on the TFT display, then hold the up and down buttons simultaneously until the light resets.
Adjust the suspension to suit your weight and riding style. Start with the factory settings, then adjust the preload, compression, and rebound damping. Test ride and make incremental adjustments for optimal comfort and handling.
