Ensure the mower is on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, set the throttle to 'Choke' if the engine is cold, turn the ignition key to the 'Start' position, and release when the engine starts.
Check the fuel level and ensure the fuel valve is open, inspect the spark plug for damage, and verify that the battery is charged and properly connected.
Change the oil after the first 5 hours of use, then every 50 hours of operation or at the beginning of each season.
Use SAE 30 oil for general use. For operations in varying temperatures, SAE 10W-30 is recommended.
Locate the cutting height adjustment lever on the mower deck, then move it to the desired position to set the cutting height.
Ensure the blades are sharp and not bent, check for debris under the deck, and verify the tire pressure is even on all wheels.
Turn off the mower and disconnect the spark plug, then use a garden hose with a spray nozzle to wash away grass clippings and debris from the deck.
Check if the blades are balanced and securely fastened, inspect the drive belts for wear, and ensure all bolts and connections are tight.
Clean the mower thoroughly, change the oil, remove the battery, and store it in a dry and protected area. Use a fuel stabilizer to prevent fuel degradation.
Regularly maintain the engine, keep the air filter clean, ensure the blades are sharp, and operate at the recommended speed and throttle settings.
