To thread the machine, start by placing the spool on the spool pin. Guide the thread through the top thread guides and tension discs, and then through the take-up lever. Finally, thread the needle from front to back.
If the machine skips stitches, check the needle for damage and ensure it is correctly installed. Additionally, verify that the thread tension is set appropriately and that the machine is threaded correctly.
To adjust the thread tension, use the tension discs located on the front of the machine. Turn the tension dial clockwise to increase tension and counterclockwise to decrease it. Test on a fabric scrap to achieve the desired stitch quality.
A loud noise may indicate a need for lubrication or cleaning. Ensure the machine is well-oiled according to the user manual and check for any debris or lint buildup around the bobbin area and moving parts.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the bobbin case, oiling the machine as per the manual, checking the needle for wear, and ensuring the thread path is clear of obstructions.
To change the needle, first, turn off the machine. Loosen the needle clamp screw and remove the old needle. Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back, push it up into the clamp, and tighten the screw securely.
Ensure the feed dogs are raised and not obstructed. Check the presser foot pressure and adjust it if necessary. Make sure the fabric is suitable for the needle and thread being used.
Start by re-threading the machine to ensure it is done correctly. Check the bobbin tension and adjust as needed. Experiment with different tension settings on scrap fabric until the desired stitch quality is achieved.
Turn off the machine and unplug it. Remove the needle plate and bobbin case. Use a brush to clean lint and debris. Apply sewing machine oil to the specified points as per the manual, then reassemble the machine.
Check that the power cord is securely plugged in and the power switch is turned on. Ensure there are no blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
