Check the battery connections for corrosion and ensure they are tight. Verify the fuel level and that the fuel valve is open. Inspect the ignition switch and starter motor for faults.
Perform an oil change every 50 hours of use, check the air filter every 25 hours and replace if necessary, and inspect the spark plug every 100 hours. Regularly lubricate moving parts.
Warm up the engine to thin the oil, then remove the drain plug and let the oil drain into a container. Replace the drain plug and fill with new oil to the correct level. Dispose of old oil responsibly.
Use unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87. Avoid using ethanol blends higher than 10%, as they can damage the engine.
Locate the height adjustment lever on the deck and move it to your desired cutting height. Ensure the deck is level for an even cut.
Check the PTO switch for proper operation and inspect the drive belt for wear or damage. Ensure the deck is properly attached and not obstructed.
Consider using tire chains or ballast weights to improve traction. Ensure tires are properly inflated and consider switching to a tire with a more aggressive tread pattern.
Signs include slipping, visible cracks, fraying, or glazing on the belt. If the tractor does not move as expected, the belt may be the issue.
Disconnect the spark plug wire, remove the old spark plug using a spark plug wrench, and install the new one by hand until snug. Tighten with a wrench and reconnect the wire.
Stop the tractor and let it cool. Check the radiator and cooling fins for blockages. Ensure the coolant level is adequate and inspect the thermostat and water pump for proper operation.
