The Clarke 6470057 MBS550A Mitre Saw has a maximum cutting capacity of 120mm x 60mm at 90 degrees and 80mm x 60mm at 45 degrees.
To adjust the bevel angle, loosen the bevel lock handle at the back of the saw, tilt the saw head to the desired angle, and then tighten the lock handle to secure the angle.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the saw after each use, checking and tightening any loose screws or bolts, lubricating moving parts, and inspecting the blade for damage or wear.
To change the blade, unplug the saw, raise the blade guard, use the provided wrench to loosen the arbor bolt, remove the old blade, and then install the new blade ensuring the teeth face the correct direction. Tighten the arbor bolt securely.
If the saw is not starting, check that it is properly plugged in, the power switch is functioning, and the fuse or circuit breaker has not tripped. Also, ensure the safety switch is engaged.
To ensure accurate cuts, regularly calibrate the saw by adjusting the fence and bevel settings, use a square to check for 90-degree alignment, and mark your cut lines clearly on the material.
If the blade is wobbling, check that the blade is correctly installed and tightened. Inspect for any damage to the blade or arbor, and replace if necessary. Ensure the saw is placed on a stable surface.
The Clarke MBS550A is primarily designed for cutting wood. To cut metal, ensure you use a blade specifically designed for metal cutting and follow all safety precautions.
To replace the carbon brushes, first unplug the saw, then remove the brush caps located on the motor housing. Replace the old brushes with new ones, ensuring they are seated properly, and reattach the brush caps.
Always wear safety goggles, keep hands away from the blade, ensure the work area is well-lit and free of obstructions, and never bypass safety features. Secure materials properly before cutting.
