To assemble the Clarke 3402070 CECS405 Electric Chainsaw, attach the guide bar to the chainsaw body by aligning it with the tensioning pin. Then, loop the chain around the guide bar, ensuring the direction of the cutting teeth is correct. Secure the bar and chain with the side cover and tighten the nuts to the recommended torque.
To tension the chain, first loosen the bar nuts slightly. Adjust the tensioning screw until the chain fits snugly against the guide bar, but can still be pulled around by hand. Finally, re-tighten the bar nuts to secure the position.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the air filter, checking and sharpening the chain, inspecting the guide bar for wear, ensuring proper chain tension, and lubricating the chain with bar oil. Periodically check all screws and bolts for tightness.
Ensure the power source is connected and functional. Check the chain brake is disengaged. Inspect the power switch for proper operation. If the issue persists, check the extension cord for damage or replace it with a suitable one.
Sharpen the chain using a round file that matches the chain pitch. File each cutting tooth at the correct angle, ensuring even sharpening across the chain. Alternatively, replace the chain if it is excessively worn.
Prevent overheating by keeping the air vents clear of debris, ensuring proper chain tension, and lubricating the chain regularly. Avoid overloading the motor by cutting within the saw's capacity.
Use a high-quality bar and chain oil specifically designed for chainsaws. This type of oil provides optimal lubrication and reduces wear on the chain and guide bar.
To replace the chain, first unplug the chainsaw. Remove the side cover and old chain. Fit the new chain onto the guide bar and sprocket, ensuring the cutting teeth face forward. Reattach the side cover and adjust chain tension appropriately.
The chain may slip if it is too loose. Check and adjust the chain tension according to the manual. Also, inspect the guide bar and chain for damage or wear and replace if necessary.
To clean the air filter, remove the cover by unscrewing it. Take out the filter and clean it with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and let it dry completely before reinstalling. Replace the cover securely.
