To thread the Brother XR1355, raise the presser foot lever, turn the handwheel towards you to raise the needle, and follow the threading path indicated on the machine. Ensure the thread is securely positioned in the tension discs and through the take-up lever before threading the needle.
If stitches are skipping, check the needle to ensure it's inserted correctly and not bent or dull. Make sure you're using the right needle type and size for your fabric. Re-thread the machine, ensuring the thread is properly seated in the tension discs.
To adjust the tension, use the tension control dial located on the front of the machine. For tighter tension, increase the number; for looser tension, decrease it. Always test on a scrap fabric before sewing your project.
A loud noise may indicate a need for maintenance. Check for lint or thread buildup in the bobbin area and clean it. Re-thread the machine and ensure the needle is not bent. If the noise persists, consider having the machine serviced by a professional.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the bobbin case and feed dogs with a small brush to remove lint and dust. Occasionally oil the machine as per the user manual instructions. Always unplug the machine before cleaning.
Ensure the presser foot is down and the feed dogs are raised. Check the stitch length setting; a very low setting can prevent fabric from moving. Also, clean the area around the feed dogs to remove any lint or debris.
Turn off the machine and raise the needle to the highest position. Loosen the needle clamp screw and remove the old needle. Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back of the machine, and tighten the clamp screw.
The Brother XR1355 offers a variety of stitches including straight, zigzag, blind hem, stretch stitches, and decorative stitches. Consult the stitch chart on the machine for a complete list of available stitches.
Jamming can occur due to incorrect threading, bobbin issues, or tension settings. Re-thread the machine, ensuring proper tension, and check the bobbin is correctly installed. Clean the bobbin area to remove any thread or lint.
Attach the buttonhole foot and select the buttonhole stitch on the machine. Place the fabric under the foot, lower the buttonhole lever, and begin sewing. The machine will automatically stitch the buttonhole.
