Brother SQ9310 Quick Reference Guide

To thread the Brother SQ9310, start by placing the spool on the spool pin. Follow the threading path indicated on the machine, ensuring the thread passes through the thread guide. Pull the thread down and around the tension disc, then up through the take-up lever. Finally, thread the needle from front to back.
First, ensure that you are using the correct needle type and size for the fabric. Check if the needle is inserted correctly and not bent. Also, make sure the tension settings are appropriate for the fabric being sewn.
Regularly clean the machine by removing lint and dust from the bobbin area and feed dogs using a small brush. Occasionally oil the bobbin case area with sewing machine oil. Always unplug the machine before performing maintenance.
Ensure the feed dogs are engaged. Check if the presser foot is lowered and that the stitch length is set correctly. If the machine is set to 'darning' or 'button sewing' mode, the feed dogs will not move the fabric.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. Increase the tension for tighter stitches and decrease for looser stitches. Test on a scrap piece of fabric to find the perfect setting.
Check if the needle is correctly installed and not damaged. Make sure you are using the right needle and thread for your fabric. Also, re-thread the machine, ensuring the thread is properly seated in the tension discs.
Lower the presser foot and raise the needle to its highest position. Pull down the needle threader lever and hook the thread onto the guide. Release the lever while holding the thread, and the needle will be threaded automatically.
Unusual noises can be caused by a bent needle, incorrect threading, or a loose screw in the needle plate. Check these areas and ensure the machine is cleaned regularly to prevent debris buildup.
Raise the presser foot lever and press the release button at the back of the presser foot holder. Align the new presser foot with the holder and lower the presser foot lever to snap it into place.
Remove the bobbin and ensure it is wound evenly. Reinstall it correctly in the bobbin case. Check the upper threading to ensure it is correctly threaded through the tension discs.
