To thread the Brother PS300T, first raise the presser foot and turn the handwheel toward you to raise the needle to its highest position. Place the spool of thread onto the spool pin and follow the threading path indicated on the machine, ensuring the thread passes through the tension discs and the take-up lever. Finally, thread the needle from front to back.
Ensure the feed dogs are engaged by checking the feed dog lever. If they are engaged and the fabric still doesn't feed, check for lint or debris under the needle plate and clean it. Adjust the presser foot pressure if necessary and ensure you are using the correct presser foot for the fabric type.
To adjust the tension, use the tension dial located on the front of the machine. For standard sewing, set the tension dial between 4 and 5. Increase the tension for tighter stitches and decrease for looser stitches. Test on a scrap piece of fabric to achieve the desired stitch quality.
Regularly clean the lint from the bobbin case and feed dogs using a small brush. Oil the machine as per the manual's instructions, usually around the bobbin case, but avoid over-oiling. Change the needle regularly and keep the machine covered when not in use to prevent dust accumulation.
Check that the needle is correctly installed and not bent or dull. Ensure you are using the right needle size and type for the fabric. Re-thread the machine, both top thread and bobbin, and verify that the thread is correctly seated in the tension discs.
Attach the buttonhole foot and select a buttonhole stitch. Mark the fabric where the buttonhole will be placed. Lower the buttonhole lever and align the foot with the markings. Start sewing, and the machine will automatically sew the buttonhole. Stop the machine once the cycle is complete.
Unusual noises may indicate the need for cleaning or lubrication. Turn off the machine and check for any thread or lint build-up in the bobbin area and under the needle plate. Ensure all screws and attachments are secure. If the noise persists, consult a professional technician.
Needle breakage can be caused by using the wrong needle for the fabric, improper needle installation, or sewing over pins. Ensure the needle is installed correctly, use the appropriate needle for the fabric, and remove pins before they reach the needle area.
To change the presser foot, first raise the presser foot lever and needle. Press the black button on the back of the presser foot holder to release the current foot. Align the new foot with the holder and lower the presser foot lever to snap it into place.
First, check if the machine is threaded correctly and re-thread if necessary. Adjust the upper thread tension and ensure the bobbin is wound evenly and inserted correctly. Verify that the needle is appropriate for the fabric type and is not damaged.
