To thread the Brother LX2500, first raise the presser foot and turn the handwheel to raise the needle to its highest position. Place a spool of thread on the spool pin and follow the threading path indicated on the machine, ensuring the thread passes through the tension discs and thread guides, and finally, thread the needle from front to back.
Skipping stitches can be caused by several factors including a dull or bent needle, incorrect needle size, or improper threading. Replace the needle, ensure it is properly inserted, and rethread the machine as per the manual instructions.
To change the needle, turn off the machine and raise the needle to its highest position. Loosen the needle clamp screw with a screwdriver, remove the old needle, and insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back. Tighten the needle clamp screw securely.
Ensure the presser foot is lowered and the feed dogs are engaged. Check the fabric type and adjust the presser foot pressure if your machine has this feature. Additionally, clean the feed dogs to remove any lint or debris.
To adjust the tension, locate the tension dial on the machine. For lighter fabrics, reduce the tension by turning the dial to a lower number. For heavier fabrics, increase the tension by turning the dial to a higher number. Test on a scrap piece of fabric to ensure correct tension.
Regular maintenance includes cleaning the bobbin case and feed dogs, oiling the machine as per the manual’s instructions, and changing needles frequently. Always unplug the machine before performing maintenance.
To wind the bobbin, place the thread spool on the spool pin and pass the thread through the bobbin winding guide. Insert the bobbin onto the bobbin winder shaft and push it to the right. Hold the thread end and start the machine to wind the bobbin. Once done, cut the thread and push the bobbin to the left to disengage.
A loud noise can be due to a lack of lubrication, incorrect threading, or a jammed bobbin case. Turn off the machine, rethread it, check the bobbin area for jams, and ensure the machine is properly oiled.
The Brother LX2500 has a dial to select different stitch patterns. Turn the stitch selection dial to the desired stitch as indicated on the machine’s stitch chart. Ensure the needle is at its highest position when changing stitches.
If the machine does not turn on, check that it is properly plugged into a working electrical outlet. Inspect the power cord for damage and ensure the power switch is turned to the "on" position. If the problem persists, consult a professional technician.
