For optimal performance, maintain the front tire pressure at 36 psi and the rear tire pressure at 42 psi. Always check the pressure when the tires are cold.
It is recommended to change the engine oil every 6,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first. Use high-quality synthetic oil for best results.
Use a silicate-free, ethylene glycol-based coolant mixed with distilled water in a 50:50 ratio. It is important to check and maintain the coolant level regularly.
Check the battery charge and connections. Ensure the fuel is fresh and the tank is adequately filled. Inspect the starter and ignition switches for any faults.
Regular maintenance should include checking tire pressure, brake fluid levels, engine oil level, and coolant. Additionally, inspect the lights, clutch, and throttle cables for proper operation.
The front and rear suspension settings can be adjusted for preload and damping. Refer to the owner's manual for specific instructions and recommended settings based on rider weight and riding conditions.
Clean the motorcycle thoroughly, fill the fuel tank, add a fuel stabilizer, change the oil, and remove the battery to store in a cool, dry place. Cover the motorcycle and store it in a sheltered area.
To reset the service light, you will need a diagnostic tool compatible with BMW motorcycles. Connect the tool to the diagnostic port and follow the instructions provided with the tool to reset the service interval.
The spark plug gap should be set to 0.8 mm (0.031 inches). Always use a gap tool to measure and adjust the gap to ensure proper engine performance.
Maintain proper tire pressure, perform regular maintenance, and ensure the air filter is clean. Riding smoothly and avoiding rapid acceleration can also help improve fuel efficiency.
