The recommended oil type for the BMW G 650 Xcountry 2006 is SAE 10W-40, API SL / JASO MA2 rated motorcycle oil.
It is recommended to change the oil every 6,000 miles or 10,000 kilometers, or once a year, whichever comes first.
The recommended tire pressure for the front tire is 29 psi (2.0 bar) and for the rear tire is 32 psi (2.2 bar).
Start by checking the battery charge and connections. Ensure that the fuel pump is operational and that the spark plug is in good condition. If issues persist, consult a professional mechanic.
Use a high-quality ethylene glycol-based coolant, mixed at a 50:50 ratio with distilled water.
To adjust the chain tension, loosen the rear axle nut, adjust the tensioner bolts evenly on both sides, and ensure the chain has about 30-40 mm of slack in the middle section. Tighten the axle nut after adjustments.
The valve clearance for the intake valves should be 0.05-0.10 mm and for the exhaust valves should be 0.25-0.30 mm.
To replace the air filter, remove the seat, unscrew the airbox cover, take out the old filter, and replace it with a new one. Ensure the new filter is seated properly before reassembly.
If the ABS warning light stays on, check the ABS sensors for dirt or damage. If the issue persists, have the ABS system checked by a professional mechanic.
During the off-season, disconnect the battery and store it in a cool, dry place. Use a battery tender to keep it charged and prevent sulfation.
